Five-star point guard Nico Mannion, who recently reclassified from 2020 to 2019, trimmed his list to four schools Saturday, and Kentucky is no longer in the mix.

Mannion — a 6-foot-3 prospect from Phoenix, Ariz. — is now considering Arizona, Duke, Marquette and Villanova. He did not have a scholarship offer from UK, but he did have multiple phone conversations with John Calipari in the days after his decision to reclassify.

247Sports immediately moved Mannion to the No. 11 spot in the 2019 rankings after he announced his reclassification. Arizona is the leader on his Crystal Ball page.

Kahlil Whitney

Several of UK’s top basketball recruiting targets are in Los Angeles this week for the Nike Skills Academy, an event loaded with talent from the 2019 and 2020 classes.

National recruiting analyst Andrew Slater tweeted a copy of the measurements from the Academy on Thursday, and it includes some impressive numbers.

UK’s newest commitment — Chicago wing Kahlil Whitney — has often been listed at 6-6, but he measured at 6-7.5 with a 6-10.5 wingspan, big numbers for a perimeter player. UK point guard commitment Tyrese Maxey is also at the Nike Skills Academy and measured at 6.2-5 with a 6.5.5 wingspan.

North Carolina has emerged in recent days as the favorite in the recruitment of Josh Green, a five-star prospect in the class of 2019 that has been tied to Kentucky this summer.

Green — a 6-foot-5 guard from Australia — is entering his senior season at IMG Academy in Florida and was one of the top stars on the Under Armour circuit this summer. He’s ranked as high as No. 8 nationally (by ESPN), and is the No. 11 overall player in the 247Sports composite rankings for the class of 2019.

Bacot

Five-star post player Armando Bacot announced his final five schools Saturday afternoon, but Kentucky did not make the list.

Bacot — a 6-foot-10 prospect from Richmond, Va. — is down to Duke, Georgia, North Carolina, Oklahoma State and hometown school Virginia Commonwealth. UNC holds 100 percent of the predictions on his Crystal Ball page.

UK’s recruiting contact with Bacot had been sporadic over the past year, though he did tell Rivals.com earlier in the week that he had been in touch with Wildcats assistant coach Joel Justus recently. UK, however, never extended a scholarship offer.

UK Coach John Calipari was on the recruiting trail Friday night to see Pendleton County star Dontaie Allen play in the Louisville Jam Fest, his final recruiting event of the July evaluation period.

Allen — a 6-foot-6 wing — is set to visit UK on Wednesday, and he could receive a scholarship offer from the Wildcats during that trip. He’ll be one of the frontrunners for Mr. Basketball honors as a senior this season. Rivals.com and 247Sports have both elevated him to Top 100 status in the 2019 class this month, and he’s picked up recent offers from Louisville, Florida, Xavier and several other top programs.

Calipari watched Allen play for the first time a couple of weeks ago at the Under Armour Challenge. The UK coach called Allen a few days later to set up next week’s campus visit.

Lewis

Highly touted combo guard Kira Lewis told reporters at an event in Las Vegas late Thursday night that he is considering reclassifying to 2018.

Lewis, currently the No. 30 overall player in the 247Sports composite rankings for 2019, has been getting looks from Kentucky’s coaches all summer, though he has not yet received a scholarship offer from the Wildcats. He visited UK in June.

Whether he stays in 2019 or makes the move to 2018, Alabama is looking like a major favorite in Lewis’ recruitment. National recruiting insider Andrew Slater reported Thursday night that Lewis will make a final decision on reclassification in early August.

Whitney

The UK buzz continues for five-star basketball prospect Kahlil Whitney, who now has an official visit scheduled for Lexington.

ESPN national analyst Paul Biancardi reported Tuesday that Whitney will visit Kentucky on Aug. 3-5 — less that two weeks from now — as momentum continues to go in the Wildcats’ favor. Earlier this week, several national recruiting analysts logged pro-UK predictions on Whitney’s 247Sports Crystal Ball page.

The 6-foot-6 wing from Chicago is ranked No. 14 overall in the 2019 class.

Whitney

Five-star wing Kahlil Whitney has had a UK scholarship offer for less than a week, but the momentum continues to quickly build in the Wildcats’ favor.

National recruiting analysts Andrew Slater and Jerry Meyer both logged Crystal Ball predictions in favor of the Cats on Whitney’s 247Sports page Monday, and Evan Daniels logged a UK pick Tuesday, joining national analyst Brian Snow, who recorded a UK prediction for Whitney shortly after he picked up the Kentucky offer Friday.

Whitney — a 6-foot-6 wing from Chicago — averaged 21.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game on the Nike circuit during the spring, shooting 38 percent from three-point range. He is expected to visit UK sometime soon.

Johnson

Five-star basketball recruit Jalen Johnson landed a scholarship offer from Duke on Friday.

Johnson — a 6-foot-7 small forward from Wisconsin — is the No. 6 overall prospect in the class of 2020, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Though he does not yet have a scholarship offer from Kentucky, the Cats are very interested in his recruitment and hosted him for a visit to Big Blue Madness last fall.

Members of UK’s coaching staff have also been watching Johnson this week. Home-state Wisconsin is considered another serious player in his recruitment.
