In addition to updating its 2020 NBA Draft board Tuesday morning, ESPN offered an update to its (still very early) projections for next year’s draft.

That board has two incoming Kentucky players as top-10 picks, something that hasn’t happened since Karl-Anthony Towns and Willie Cauley-Stein were both selected in the top 10 back in 2015, following the Wildcats’ 38-1 season.

Boston

As promised, future Kentucky basketball player Brandon Boston made a major jump in the latest Rivals.com rankings for the class of 2020.

The new rankings, which were posted Monday morning, moved Boston from No. 17 all the way to No. 4 nationally in the 2020 class, behind only Oklahoma State signee Cade Cunningham (the new No. 1), uncommitted guard Jalen Green, and Southern Cal signee Evan Mobley, the previous No. 1.

Boston’s 13-spot jump was the biggest of any player already within Rivals.com’s five-star range. No Kentucky signee has been ranked higher than No. 10 by Rivals.com since the 2016 class, and Boston would be UK’s first top five recruit since 2015.

Future Kentucky guard Brandon “BJ” Boston has been a standout for the star-studded Sierra Canyon (Calif.) basketball team this winter, and he’ll get a chance to play on national TV on Monday.

Boston and Sierra Canyon — a team that features the sons of NBA legends LeBron James and Dwyane Wade — will play against Virginia high school power Paul VI at 1 p.m. Monday on ESPNU as part of the Hoophall Classic from Springfield, Mass.

The game will be one of four major high school matchups Monday on ESPNU, but it’s the only one featuring a Kentucky basketball signee or target. Boston had 17 points and 10 assists in Sierra Canyon’s earlier game at Hoophall on Saturday.

A day before Duke landed the commitment of top-10 prospect Jalen Johnson, a couple of analysts for the program’s 247Sports site logged Crystal Ball predictions in favor of the Blue Devils for Brandon Boston, another five-star recruit in the 2020 class.

Boston — a 6-foot-7 wing from the Atlanta area — has narrowed his recruitment to Duke, Kentucky, Florida and Auburn, and the Wildcats had emerged as the favorite in recent weeks. He took a recruiting visit to Lexington toward the end of this past season and has raved about that trip in interviews this spring.

Five-star shooting guard Brandon Boston cut his list to four schools Saturday, and Kentucky is still in the mix.

Boston — a 6-foot-6 prospect from the Atlanta area — is down to UK, Duke, Florida and Auburn. The list didn’t come as a surprise — those are the four programs he’s been talking about the most this spring.

Kentucky hosted Boston for a home game during SEC play, and he raved about that visit during an interview with the Herald-Leader recently. Earlier this week, national recruiting experts Jerry Meyer and Andrew Slater both logged Crystal Ball predictions in favor of the Wildcats.

Boston

There was a flurry of Crystal Ball activity related to top recruits in the 2020 class Wednesday, and it contained both good and bad news for Kentucky.

First, the good: national recruiting experts Jerry Meyer and Andrew Slater both logged predictions in favor of the Wildcats for five-star shooting guard Brandon Boston, one of the best perimeter prospects in the country and the No. 8 overall player in the 247Sports composite rankings for the class of 2020.

Boston — a 6-foot-6 recruit from the Atlanta area — visited Kentucky for a home game a few months ago and recently told the Herald-Leader that he was impressed by that trip.
