247Sports national analyst Steve Wiltfong is now predicting that three-star wide receiver Shocky Jacques-Louis will eventually re-commit to the Kentucky Wildcats.

Jacques-Louis — a 6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect from Fort Myers, Fla. — backed out of his commitment to Tennessee after the recent firing of head coach Butch Jones. Before he was committed to the Vols, Jacques-Louis was committed to UK.

Ohio State extended a scholarship offer to Jacques-Louis on Wednesday, but Wiltfong’s prediction was made after that offer became public. The Cats are now the favorites on Jacques-Louis’ Crystal Ball page.

Williamson

Update: Zion Williamson will not sign during the early period.

Clemson has been talked about as a school to watch in Zion Williamson’s recruitment for weeks, and the Tigers are finally getting some momentum on the top prospect’s 247Sports Crystal Ball page.

Several pro-Clemson predictions have been logged on Williamson’s page this week, including a big one from national recruiting insider Andrew Slater on Wednesday. Slater is the top-ranked recruiting analyst in the Crystal Ball standings for the class of 2018. He also covered Williamson’s season opener in South Carolina on Tuesday night.

Langford

Vanderbilt landed a commitment from five-star point guard Darius Garland on Monday, a major pickup for Coach Bryce Drew.

The Commodores might have some more five-star magic in store for the future.

247Sports national analyst Jerry Meyer has now logged a pro-Vanderbilt pick on the Crystal Ball page of five-star shooting guard Romeo Langford, the No. 5 overall recruit in the 2018 class. Langford — a 6-foot-5 prospect from New Albany, Ind. — cut his list to Indiana, Kansas and Vanderbilt over the weekend, but IU and KU have been seen as the most likely destinations in recent weeks.

Johnson

Kentucky missed out on No. 1 recruit R.J. Barrett on Friday, but the Wildcats look to be in a good spot to land five-star prospect Keldon Johnson on Saturday night.

Johnson — a 6-foot-6 shooting guard from Oak Hill Academy (Va.) — is set to announce his college decision at 6 p.m. Saturday, and the finalists are Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina State and Texas. He’ll reveal his college choice a day after Barrett — a 6-7 shooting guard from Canada — committed to Duke over UK.

Busy week of visits for top UK target Zion Williamson

Williamson

As reported earlier this week, UK assistant coach Joel Justus was in South Carolina on Tuesday to visit five-star recruit Zion Williamson, who is arguably the Wildcats’ top target in the 2018 class.

Justus won’t be the only coach seeing Williamson this week.

Clemson was also in to see the in-state target Tuesday, and coaches from Duke, Kansas and North Carolina are all expected to see Williamson on Wednesday. Though the 6-foot-6 small forward has not set a date for his college announcement, there is a chance he could sign with a school during the early period, which ends Nov. 15.

Kentucky is currently the leader on Williamson’s 247Sports Crystal Ball page.

Grimes

Five-star combo guard Quentin Grimes got a visit from Kansas on Sunday, according to Scout.com analyst Evan Daniels, and it was the second time in less than a week that the Jayhawks made the trip.

Bill Self and the entire Kansas coaching staff were in the Houston area Monday to visit Grimes, the No. 16 overall recruit in the 247Sports composite rankings for the class of 2018.

The Jayhawks have all of the picks on Grimes’ Crystal Ball page, but recruiting insiders have told the Herald-Leader in recent days that the recruitment is still a tough one to handicap. There have been various degrees of buzz for each of the other three schools on Grimes’ final list: UK, Marquette and Texas.

Williamson

National recruiting analyst Andrew Slater switched his 247Sports Crystal Ball pick for Zion Williamson from Kansas to “foggy” on Monday.

Williamson — a 6-foot-6 small forward from Spartanburg, S.C. — is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 1 overall player in the 2018 class. He’s No. 2 overall in the 247Sports composite rankings.

Slater is the No. 1-ranked analyst in the 247Sports Crystal Ball standings. He changed his pick for Williamson to “foggy,” a designation that means there isn’t enough credible information on a recruitment to predict a specific team.

Shittu

The emergence of power forward Jaxson Hayes as a serious UK recruiting target Tuesday night might also mean the Cats’ pursuit of top-10 prospect Simi Shittu is nearing an end.

A few minutes after Hayes — an under-the-radar player in the class of 2018 — received a scholarship offer from Kentucky, the Herald-Leader was told by Shittu’s high school coach, Alex Popp, that Shittu had not yet scheduled a visit to Lexington. The Herald-Leader had reached out to Popp several days earlier to check on Shittu’s status with the Wildcats following John Calipari’s trip to Vermont Academy last week to see him in an open gym.

National analysts now say Texas for Keldon Johnson

Johnson

Two weeks ago, after receiving a scholarship offer from the University of Kentucky, it seemed like five-star shooting guard Keldon Johnson would ultimately be part of the Wildcats’ recruiting class of 2018.

Coming out of this past weekend’s official visit to Texas, that recruitment might be looking a little different.

247Sports national analysts Jerry Meyer and Andrew Slater both switched their Crystal Ball picks for Johnson from Kentucky to Texas on Monday, shortly after the Oak Hill Academy star wrapped up his official visit to Austin.
