Ware

The recent decisions by N’Faly Dante and Addison Patterson to commit to Oregon and reclassify from 2020 to 2019 led to a minor shakeup in the Rivals.com rankings for 2020 on Monday, when the website adjusted a few other players before its next major rankings update in September.

One of the players affected was New Jersey forward Lance Ware, who landed a UK scholarship offer last month and has emerged as possibly the most likely player to commit to the Wildcats next.

Ware moved from No. 52 to No. 34 in the Rivals.com rankings.

Immediately after Kentucky extended a scholarship offer to four-star forward Lance Ware late Friday night, the Wildcats emerged as the popular pick on his 247Sports Crystal Ball page.

Ware — a 6-foot-9 power forward from New Jersey — has been on UK’s recruiting radar since last year and enjoyed a strong spring and summer on the Nike circuit. 247Sports now ranks him as the No. 41 overall prospect in the 2020 class, and Louisville, Michigan, Oregon, Georgetown and Miami are among the programs that have come through with scholarship offers over the past couple of weeks.

Cooper

Rivals.com national analyst Eric Bossi logged a Future Cast prediction this week for five-star point guard Sharife Cooper, who received a UK scholarship offer last fall.

Bossi joins several other national recruiting experts in picking Auburn to land Cooper, a 5-foot-11 prospect from the Atlanta area that has been strongly linked to the Tigers over the past several months. Fellow Rivals analyst Corey Evans is also picking Auburn for Cooper, and the Tigers have a huge lead on his 247Sports Crystal Ball page.

Cooper is the No. 15 overall player in the Rivals.com rankings for the 2020 class, and he’s No. 17 nationally in the 247Sports composite rankings. Earlier this year, he became the first non-senior to earn national high school player of the year honors from MaxPreps.com after averaging 28.6 points, 8.6 assists and 4.1 steals per game while leading his team to an undefeated season.
