Greg Brown

There’s no question which school is the favorite in the recruitment of five-star forward Greg Brown. It’s the hometown Texas Longhorns.

Brown — a 6-foot-9 prospect from Austin, Texas and the son of a former Longhorns football standout — has narrowed his college choices to Auburn, Kentucky, Memphis, Michigan and Texas, and he plans to announce a decision April 24.

The Longhorns were seen as the frontrunners early in Brown’s recruitment, but Memphis emerged as a possible favorite more recently and UK and Auburn have often been mentioned as legitimate landing spots.

Cisse

There’s a new Crystal Ball prediction in favor of a Southeastern Conference school on the page of five-star center Moussa Cisse, but it’s not going Kentucky’s way.

National recruiting expert Andrew Slater logged the first pick in favor of Louisiana State on Cisse’s page Monday. The 6-foot-10 prospect is the No. 8 overall player in the 2021 class, though he’s widely expected to reclassify to 2020 and play college basketball next season. UK extended a scholarship offer last year, and John Calipari has been to several of his games.

Omoruyi

On Tuesday night, four-star center Cliff Omoruyi cut his recruiting list to three schools — Arizona State, Auburn and Rutgers — trimming longtime finalists Kentucky and UConn from consideration.

Since then, Arizona State has emerged as the clear favorite to land Omoruyi’s commitment, according to recruiting analysts and experts. The Sun Devils already had the majority of predictions in Omoruyi’s recruitment before Tuesday’s announcement, but they now have all 17 picks across his 247Sports Crystal Ball page and Rivals.com Future Cast page, including predictions in their favor from national experts Eric Bossi, Corey Evans, Andrew Slater, Jerry Meyer and Brian Snow.

Omoruyi

National recruiting expert Andrew Slater logged a Crystal Ball prediction Tuesday for Cliff Omoruyi, and he’s favoring Arizona State to land the highly touted center.

Omoruyi — a 6-foot-11 prospect at Roselle Catholic (N.J.) — has narrowed his choices to Arizona State, Auburn, Kentucky, Rutgers and UConn, and he took his official visit to Tempe last week. Other national recruiting analysts — such as Rivals.com’s Eric Bossi and Corey Evans, and 247Sports inside Brian Snow — had previously logged predictions in favor of Arizona State.

Jalen Green

At one time in this 2020 basketball recruiting cycle, five-star shooting guard Jalen Green was seen as one of Kentucky’s top targets for next season.

That changed around the time that fellow five-star shooting guards Brandon “BJ” Boston and Terrence Clarke committed to the Wildcats following the summer AAU season. UK, in effect, moved on to other priorities, and Green moved on to other schools. Memphis and Oregon were seen as the top candidates to land his commitment after that.

Now, a new team might be emerging as a real threat in the recruitment.

Jaden Hardy

Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Corey Evans logged a Future Cast prediction Monday in favor of Kentucky for five-star shooting guard Jaden Hardy, who is considered the top backcourt player in the 2021 class.

Hardy — a 6-foot-4 prospect from Michigan who attends high school in the Las Vegas area — earned a scholarship offer from Kentucky last fall and has emerged as a major target for the Wildcats over the past few months. John Calipari has visited the talented perimeter player multiple times this season, and UK even practiced at Hardy’s high school to start their two-game trip to Las Vegas in December.

Greg Brown

The first 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction by a major national recruiting analyst has been logged for five-star forward Greg Brown, and it didn’t go in favor of Kentucky.

National recruiting expert Andrew Slater put in a pick for Memphis on Brown’s page Sunday, the latest in a line of public predictions in favor of the Tigers.

Rivals.com national analysts Eric Bossi and Corey Evans have also made picks for Brown in favor of Memphis recently.

Greg Brown

Rivals.com national analyst Eric Bossi logged a Future Cast prediction this week for five-star forward Greg Brown, giving the nod to Memphis in his recruitment.

Brown — a 6-foot-9 prospect from Austin, Texas — visited Kentucky last month and is also considering Auburn, Memphis, Michigan and Texas, his hometown school and father’s alma mater. He will take his final official visit this weekend to Michigan.

Texas has long been seen as the favorite in Brown’s recruitment, though the Longhorns have taken a bit of a hit as they continue to struggle in Shaka Smart’s fifth season as coach of the team. Smart’s job security has also come into question.

Baldwin

247Sports national recruiting analyst Jerry Meyer logged two new Crystal Ball predictions for major Kentucky basketball targets Monday afternoon. One went in UK’s favor, while the other favored Duke.

Meyer became the latest analyst to predict that five-star shooting guard Jaden Hardy would ultimately end up at Kentucky. Fellow national recruiting expert Andrew Slater made the same pick over the weekend, and Rivals.com national analyst Corey Evans has told the Herald-Leader recently that he believes UK is the early leader for Hardy, one of the best scorers in all of high school basketball and the No. 1-ranked guard in the 2021 class.

Meyer also logged a prediction in favor of Duke for Patrick Baldwin Jr., a sharp-shooting wing player in the 2021 class that landed a scholarship offer from Kentucky last year. Duke has long been talked about as a possible favorite for Baldwin — a top five player in the 2021 class — though he has said his recruitment remains wide open.

Jackson

247Sports national analyst Jerry Meyer logged a Crystal Ball prediction in favor of Alabama on the page of UK target Isaiah Jackson on Tuesday, the latest sign that the highly touted forward could be heading somewhere other than Lexington.

A little more than a month ago, national recruiting expert Andrew Slater logged a Crystal Ball pick in favor of Alabama for Jackson, who visited UK earlier this fall, and — for a few weeks — looked like he was favoring the Wildcats.
