A few days ago, Kentucky basketball commitment Devin Askew announced that he had reclassified from 2021 to 2020 and officially signed with the Wildcats for next season.

His new rankings are now posted on the national recruiting websites.

Rivals.com ranks Askew as the No. 22 overall prospect in the 2020 class, while ESPN has him at No. 25 nationally and 247Sports ranks him 27th overall. All three recruiting services peg Askew as a five-star prospect.

Askew is the No. 6 point guard in the 2020 class, according to Rivals.com, which ranks Cade Cunningham (Oklahoma State) first on that list, followed by Jalen Suggs (uncommitted), Daishen Nix (UCLA), Sharife Cooper (Auburn), and Caleb Love (North Carolina).

National recruiting expert Andrew Slater had switched his Crystal Ball pick to Kentucky in the recruitment of Devin Askew, becoming the latest insider to pick the Cats for the five-star point guard from California.

Askew — a top-10 player in the 2021 class — has taken recent visits to Kentucky, Louisville, Arizona and Memphis, and he is expected to announce his college decision sometime in the next couple of weeks. There is also a chance that Askew will jump to the 2020 class, though that decision likely won’t be made until after the high school season.

Slater had originally picked Louisville for Askew, but UK landed the last visit in his recruitment — an official visit this past weekend — and the Wildcats appear to have all of the momentum going into his college decision.

247Sports national analyst Jerry Meyer is the latest college basketball recruiting expert to put in a pro-Kentucky prediction for five-star point guard Devin Askew.

Meyer put in the pick for Kentucky over the weekend, when Askew was in Lexington for his official visit. He’s also taken recent recruiting trips to Arizona, Louisville and Memphis, and U of L has been seen as the Wildcats’ biggest competition for the California native.

Rivals.com national analyst Corey Evans is also predicting that Askew will end up at Kentucky, telling the Herald-Leader late last week that he’d be a great fit for the Wildcats.

Devin Askew

Rivals.com national analyst Corey Evans logged a prediction in favor of Kentucky for five-star point guard Devin Askew on Thursday, a couple of days after heaping praise on the California playmaker in an interview with the Herald-Leader.

“He is arguably the best ‘college’ point guard in high school basketball right now, in my mind, regardless of classification,” Evans said. “He has to become a better athlete and more explosive, but he’s a legitimate 6-foot-3 with a 6-7 wingspan at the point guard spot. He’s strong, he’s super mature. He’s all about the team. He can make shots. He can play-make. He can defend. He’s fiery. There really isn’t much that he’s missing on.

“He’s practically the entire package at the point guard spot.”

Devin Askew

Five-star point guard Devin Askew landed a scholarship offer from Kentucky on Friday night.

Askew — a 6-foot-3 prospect from Santa Ana, Calif. — played alongside major UK target Jalen Green on the Nike circuit this summer and is currently participating in the USA Basketball training camp in Colorado Springs, where John Calipari and Tony Barbee will see him and others play this weekend.

Kansas, Villanova, Ohio State and Memphis are a few of the other schools that have extended scholarship offers to Askew over the past several weeks. Louisville was among his earlier offers, and Duke has also been evaluating him for a possible offer. He averaged 11.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game during Nike play this year, making 41.4 percent of his three-point attempts.
