Five-star point guard Nico Mannion, who recently reclassified from 2020 to 2019, trimmed his list to four schools Saturday, and Kentucky is no longer in the mix.

Mannion — a 6-foot-3 prospect from Phoenix, Ariz. — is now considering Arizona, Duke, Marquette and Villanova. He did not have a scholarship offer from UK, but he did have multiple phone conversations with John Calipari in the days after his decision to reclassify.

247Sports immediately moved Mannion to the No. 11 spot in the 2019 rankings after he announced his reclassification. Arizona is the leader on his Crystal Ball page.

Bacot

Five-star post player Armando Bacot announced his final five schools Saturday afternoon, but Kentucky did not make the list.

Bacot — a 6-foot-10 prospect from Richmond, Va. — is down to Duke, Georgia, North Carolina, Oklahoma State and hometown school Virginia Commonwealth. UNC holds 100 percent of the predictions on his Crystal Ball page.

UK’s recruiting contact with Bacot had been sporadic over the past year, though he did tell Rivals.com earlier in the week that he had been in touch with Wildcats assistant coach Joel Justus recently. UK, however, never extended a scholarship offer.

Johnson

Five-star basketball recruit Jalen Johnson landed a scholarship offer from Duke on Friday.

Johnson — a 6-foot-7 small forward from Wisconsin — is the No. 6 overall prospect in the class of 2020, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Though he does not yet have a scholarship offer from Kentucky, the Cats are very interested in his recruitment and hosted him for a visit to Big Blue Madness last fall.

Members of UK’s coaching staff have also been watching Johnson this week. Home-state Wisconsin is considered another serious player in his recruitment.

Antoine

Five-star shooting guard Bryan Antoine has scheduled four official visits, according to a report Thursday morning from Adam Zagoria.

Antoine — a 6-foot-5 prospect from New Jersey — will visit Kentucky on Sept. 22. He also has scheduled trips for Florida (Sept. 15), Duke (Sept. 29) and Villanova (Nov. 3). Kansas was also on his list of five finalists.

Duke is the major favorite on Antoine’s 247Sports Crystal Ball page, and he told the Herald-Leader earlier this month that he will definitely be making a college decision in time to sign with the school of his choice in November.

Matthew Hurt

National recruiting analyst Andrew Slater has logged a new Crystal Ball prediction in favor of Kansas for five-star power forward Matthew Hurt, one of UK’s top targets in the class of 2019.

Hurt — a 6-foot-9 prospect from Rochester, Minn. — was recently announced as part of the 12-player USA Basketball U18 team after taking part in that squad’s training camp in Colorado over the past week. Kansas Coach Bill Self is coaching the U18 team — meaning he’ll get plenty of time with Hurt — and the Jayhawks were seen by many as the favorites in his recruitment even before the U18 tryouts.

Carey

Vernon Carey — the No. 1 overall basketball prospect in the class of 2019, according to Rivals.com — has narrowed his recruitment to five schools.

Carey — a 6-foot-10 power forward from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — is now considering Kentucky, Duke, Miami, Michigan State and North Carolina. He cut Kansas, UCLA and Florida from his previous list.

There were no surprises in Carey’s final five. Michigan State is the only school he’s been to for an official visit. Kentucky hosted him for an unofficial visit more than a year ago, and he told the Herald-Leader last month that he’s been in contact with Bam Adebayo about possibly playing for the Cats. Duke and UNC have been recruiting him hard for more than a year, and his father is a former football standout at Miami.

Maxey

247Sports national recruiting analyst Evan Daniels logged a Crystal Ball prediction in favor of Kentucky for five-star point guard Tyrese Maxey on Saturday night.

Maxey — a 6-foot-3 prospect from Garland, Texas — has hosted John Calipari and UK assistant coach Tony Barbee twice for in-home visits over the past couple of weeks, and the national perception of his recruitment has swung heavily in the Wildcats’ favor over the past few days. UK now has nearly 90 percent of the picks on Maxey’s Crystal Ball page.

Carey

There’s a clear two-way battle for the top spot in the basketball recruiting rankings for the class of 2019.

Rivals.com’s latest rankings, released Thursday, kept Vernon Carey with the No. 1 ranking, edging out fellow high school big man James Wiseman.

Carey — a 6-foot-10 power forward from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — is ranked No. 2 behind Wiseman in the most recent 247Sports and ESPN rankings for the 2019 class, but Rivals.com has had him in the top spot for a while.

Lecque

Five-star combo guard Jalen Lecque is still on UK’s recruiting radar.

The New York native — now playing for Christ School in North Carolina — had an in-home visit with the Wildcats over the weekend, according to national recruiting analyst Andrew Slater.

Duke assistant coach Nate James is expected to visit Lecque on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-4 prospect has been on Kentucky’s radar for months, and the Herald-Leader has been told in the past that Lecque could reclassify to 2018 if he were to land a scholarship offer from a blueblood program like UK or Duke.
