Three-star defensive lineman Elijah James committed to Kentucky on Sunday following a weekend visit.
James — a 6-foot-4, 300-pound prospect from Chicago — has played two seasons for Iowa Western Community College, accumulating 8.5 sacks, 16.5 tackles for loss and 57 total tackles in 11 games this fall. Rivals.com ranks him as the No. 87 junior college prospect in the class of 2018. His other reported scholarship offers were from Southern Miss and Chattanooga.
He’s the Cats’ fourth juco commitment for the 2019 class, joining teammate JaVonte Richardson (a wide receiver), linebacker Marquez Bembry and cornerback Brandin Echols.
James originally signed with Central Michigan out of high school and will have three years to play two seasons at Kentucky, which now has 21 commitments with the early signing period set to start Wednesday.
