Hardy

Five-star shooting guard Jaden Hardy — a major Kentucky recruiting target for the 2021 class — will lead Coronado (Nev.) against Bishop Gorman (Nev.) in a made-for-TV matchup Friday night.

Hardy — a 6-foot-4 prospect from Detroit, now living in the Las Vegas area — earned a UK scholarship offer last year and is clearly one of John Calipari’s top priorities in the 2021 class. His game will be televised live Friday at 11 p.m. ET on ESPNU.

Rivals.com national analyst Corey Evans recently told the Herald-Leader that he thinks Kentucky is the early leader for Hardy, one of the premier scorers in the country. Hardy had 62 points in a game earlier this week and has routinely scored more than 40 points in games this season.

Brandon Boston

ESPN updated its basketball recruiting rankings for all classes Wednesday morning, and a future Kentucky Wildcat made a major move at the top of the 2020 list.

UK signee Brandon Boston — a 6-foot-6 shooting guard — jumped from No. 12 to No. 6 overall in the 2020 class with his stellar season so far for star-studded Sierra Canyon, the California super-team that features several other Division I prospects, including the sons of NBA legends LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

Boston is now Kentucky’s highest-ranked signee, according to ESPN, which placed fellow shooting guard Terrence Clarke two spots lower at No. 8 overall. Point guard Devin Askew dropped one spot to No. 25 overall, power forward Isaiah Jackson dropped three spots to No. 30, power forward Lance Ware moved up five spots to No. 40, and four-star wing Cam’Ron Fletcher dropped 11 spots to No. 58 in the 2020 rankings.

Clarke

The ESPN 100 basketball recruiting rankings for the class of 2020 were updated Thursday, and all six of Kentucky’s early signees were listed in the top 50.

Terrence Clarke, who was first inserted into the ESPN rankings at No. 13 overall after he reclassified from 2021 to 2010, is now rated as the No. 7 player in the class. That ranking is still curiously low compared to the other national recruiting services: Rivals.com and 247Sports both have Clarke at No. 4 overall, and Rivals national analyst Eric Bossi implied this week that it would be difficult for anyone to knock the future Wildcat out of the top five.

Jalen Green

ESPN updated its basketball recruiting rankings for the classes of 2020, 2021 and 2022 on Monday, and likely Southern Cal commitment Evan Mobley is the top prospect in the next senior class.

Mobley — a post player from California — has not committed to the Trojans yet, but his father is an assistant coach at USC and his older brother, five-star recruit Isaiah Mobley, will be a freshman there this season.

Rivals.com and 247Sports also rank Evan Mobley as the top player in 2020.

Herro

PJ Washington is staying in the NBA Draft, and he could be a lottery pick, according to the newest mock draft released by ESPN on Thursday morning.

Washington is listed as tied for 12th with two other players in the new mock draft, which notes that ties in the draft order will be settled by the NBA on Friday. The first 14 picks in the draft are considered lottery selections. Washington announced earlier this week that he would enter the draft and hire an agent, and he and UK both implied that he would keep his name in the draft and not return to school for a third season.

Wiseman

Former UK target James Wiseman remains the No. 1 overall player in the 2019 class, according to ESPN’s updated rankings for high school seniors.

Wiseman — a 7-footer from Tennessee — committed to Memphis in November after a lengthy recruitment. He was the first player in the 2019 class to land a UK scholarship offer.

Two UK commitments made the ESPN top 100: Chicago wing Kahlil Whitney at No. 9 and Texas point guard Tyrese Maxey at No. 11. Pendleton County wing Dontaie Allen, the Cats’ other commitment for the 2019 class, was not included on ESPN’s top 100 list.

McDaniels

ESPN released a new NBA mock draft for 2020 on Wednesday — after its analysts evaluated several top recruits at the Hoophall Classic over the weekend — and the list of possible picks is filled with current and future Kentucky Wildcats.

Top UK target Jaden McDaniels is the projected No. 1 overall pick in the new mock draft. The 6-foot-10 forward from Seattle is one of the highest ranked prospects in the 2019 class and has narrowed his recruiting list to Kentucky, San Diego State, Texas, UCLA and Washington. He is not expected to make a college decision until the spring.

Another UK target, shooting guard Anthony Edwards, is No. 2 on the list. Edwards — a 6-5 prospect from Atlanta — arrived on UK’s campus earlier this week for his official visit and is also considering Florida State, Georgia, Kansas and North Carolina.

ESPN Plus subscribers will be treated to a full day of high school basketball programming Saturday, and the slate features top-ranked Kentucky commitment Kahlil Whitney along with a few other Wildcats recruiting targets.

Whitney and Roselle Catholic (N.J.) will face Norcross (Ga.) — a team led by class of 2020 UK target Brandon Boston — at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. (The Kentucky-Auburn game is scheduled to tip off at 4 p.m. Saturday on ESPN). Whitney is the No. 8 overall prospect in the class of 2019, according to the 247Sports composite rankings, and Boston is a top 10 player in the 2020 class.

Washington

ESPN’s list of the top NBA Draft prospects for 2019 was updated Thursday morning, and it now includes four Kentucky Wildcats among the top 50 players.

UK freshman Keldon Johnson remains the top Cat on the board at No. 10 overall, and he’s followed by sophomore forward PJ Washington at No. 20, well within first-round territory.

Further down the list are UK freshmen guards Tyler Herro (No. 40 overall) and Ashton Hagans (No. 43), both in positions that would put them in the middle of the second round of this year’s draft. No other UK players made the list, including post players EJ Montgomery and Nick Richards, two Wildcats who could be very important to the team’s 2019-20 roster if they decide to stick around for another season.
