Virginia Tech basketball star Kerry Blackshear Jr. will take his first recruiting visit as a prospective graduate transfer to Florida, according to a report from national analyst Corey Evans on Wednesday night.

Evans reported that Blackshear — a 6-foot-10 player with one season of college eligibility remaining — would be in Gainesville starting Thursday. He is an Orlando native, and the Gators have a big need in the frontcourt next season, though Mike White’s squad is loaded with talented guards and wings.

Kentucky and Texas A&M are two other schools that have received significant buzz as possible landing spots for Blackshear, but no visits have yet been scheduled to those two schools. Blackshear averaged 14.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game last season and is ranked by ESPN as the No. 1 graduate transfer this year.

UK coaches were in New Jersey on Tuesday for another meeting with Scottie Lewis, one of the Cats’ top recruiting targets and a player who could be on the verge of a college decision.

Jake Weingarten of Stock Risers was first to report the UK visit.

Lewis — a 6-foot-5 wing — has already taken official visits to Kentucky and Florida and is expected to make a decision between those two schools sometime soon. The Gators remain the favorite on his 247Sports Crystal Ball page. Lewis is the No. 11 overall player in the 2019 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Scottie Lewis

National recruiting analyst Andrew Slater logged a Crystal Ball prediction in favor of Villanova for five-star wing Scottie Lewis on Sunday morning.

Lewis — a 6-foot-5 prospect in the class of 2019 — is one of UK’s top recruiting targets, and John Calipari and Tony Barbee have visited with him several times in the past few months. Lewis is also high school and Under Armour league teammates with five-star guard Bryan Antoine, another top UK recruiting target.

UK is currently favored on Lewis’ 247Sports Crystal Ball page, but Slater was ranked as the best predictor for recruitments during the 2018 cycle.
