UK football commitment Wandale Robinson moved up more than 100 spots in the latest 247Sports national recruiting rankings for the class of 2019, which were released Tuesday afternoon, and he’s now the No. 1-ranked prospect in the state of Kentucky.

Robinson — a standout player for Western Hills High School in Frankfort — is now ranked No. 117 overall, moving up 131 spots from the previous rankings. He’s now the No. 2 all-purpose back nationally. Robinson is expected to play slot receiver and be utilized out of the backfield — and in the return game — at UK.

Former Kentucky wide receiver JaVonte Richardson re-committed to the Wildcats on Sunday night.

Richardson — a 6-foot-4 prospect from Cleveland — was part of UK’s signing class of 2017 and spent last season as a redshirt player in the Cats’ program before transferring to Iowa Western Community College. He has 22 catches for 305 yards and three touchdowns in six games this season and is considered a three-star prospect and the No. 2 junior college wide receiver nationally, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

247Sports national analyst Steve Wiltfong has logged a new Crystal Ball prediction in favor of Nebraska for Western Hills football star Wandale Robinson.

Robinson — a 5-foot-9, do-it-all offensive prospect in the class of 2019 — is arguably Kentucky’s top remaining target in that class and has been on UK’s campus for several recruiting visits. He’s also taken official visits to each of his five other finalists: Alabama, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State and Purdue.

Defensive lineman commits to Kentucky for 2019

Three-star defensive lineman Cavon Butler announced his commitment to Kentucky for the class of 2019 on Friday afternoon.

Butler — a 6-foot-3, 285-pound prospect from Toledo — is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 53 defensive tackle nationally in his class. He attended an Alabama camp in late June and said afterward that he had received a scholarship offer from Coach Nick Saban.

Pittsburgh, West Virginia and Cincinnati were among his other offers.

Butler was credited with 9.5 tackles and three forced fumbles as a junior last season. He joins Taures Payne as the second defensive lineman in UK’s 2019 class, which now features 15 commitments.

Moses Douglass is the only other UK commitment from the state of Ohio in this class so far.

UK football commitments Marquez Bembry and Taures Payne are both listed among the top 50 junior college prospects in the class of 2019, according to rankings released by 247Sports on Tuesday.

Bembry — a 6-foot-3 linebacker from Atlanta — is the No. 33 overall juco player in the class, while Payne — a 6-4 defensive end from Alabama — is listed at No. 48 overall. Both can sign with the Wildcats in December

Former UK player Javonte Richardson — once a highly touted high school recruit — is No. 34 in the new rankings. Richardson will play this season at Iowa Western.

UK’s running back commitment for the class of 2019 has been included in the latest batch of ESPN national rankings.

Travis Tisdale — a 5-foot-9 prospect from Valdosta, Ga. — is a four-star recruit and the No. 289 overall player in the 2019 class, according to ESPN’s new rankings. He committed to Kentucky last month and is the only Wildcats commitment in the Top 300 national rankings.

Five prospects from the state of Kentucky were included in the new rankings: South Warren defensive lineman Jacob Lacey at No. 118, Trinity defensive lineman Stephen Herron at No. 171, Glasgow offensive lineman Tanner Bowles at No. 225, Scott County offensive lineman Bryan Hudson at No. 255, and Louisville Christian wide receiver Milton Wright at No. 281.

Three-star tight end Nikolas Ognenovic announced his commitment to Kentucky on Wednesday night.

Ognenovic — a 6-foot-6, 235-pound prospect from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — is ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 32 tight end nationally in the 2019 class. 247Sports has him as the No. 37 player at his position. He plays for the same high school as Nik Scalzo, the Wildcats’ quarterback commitment for the class of 2019.

Kentucky now has 14 commitments for next year’s class. The Cats are No. 38 nationally, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

UK landed another football commitment for its class of 2019 on Wednesday with a pledge from wide receiver DeMarcus Harris, a Florida native.

Harris — a 6-foot-2 prospect from Vero Beach, Fla. — is ranked by 247Sports as a three-star recruit and the No. 150 receiver nationally in the 2019 class. He does not yet have a star ranking from Rivals.com.

Kentucky landed a commitment Friday night from defensive lineman Taures Payne, a prospect out of Northwest Mississippi Community College.

Payne — a 6-foot-4, 260-pound defensive end originally from Hoover, Ala. — had 33 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 11 junior college games last season. He will have two years to play two seasons when he joins Kentucky’s team for the 2019 class.

He does not have a star ranking from 247Sports or Rivals.com.
