Defensive tackle Jerquavion Mahone has announced his commitment to Kentucky, becoming the second player from the class of 2018 to pledge to the Wildcats on Tuesday night.

Mahone — a 6-foot-3, 300-pound prospect from Manchester, Ga. — fills a big area of need for Kentucky, which had 20 commitments for 2018 before Mahone jumped on board but just one from a defensive lineman (Davoan Hawkins). Mahone is the only interior D-lineman in the Cats’ class.

None of the major recruiting websites have a star ranking for Mahone, who visited UK over the weekend. He was credited with 13 sacks and 30 tackles for loss as a senior. He also received a scholarship offer from Tennessee a few days ago.
