UK freshman Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been the Wildcats’ best player over the past few weeks, and it’s looking like that could lead to him playing only one season in a Kentucky uniform.

ESPN’s latest Top 100 rankings for the 2018 NBA Draft were posted Thursday morning, and Gilgeous-Alexander has moved up to the No. 18 overall position — just four spots out of the lottery range. In a separate post Thursday, analysts from ESPN noted that Gilgeous-Alexander is making a strong case to be the third-best guard in this draft class — behind Trae Young and Collin Sexton.

Seven Kentucky basketball players are listed among the top 100 prospects for next year’s NBA Draft in the latest update from ESPN released Tuesday morning.

Freshman Kevin Knox is the top Wildcat on the list at No. 10 overall, and Hamidou Diallo (No. 21) and Nick Richards (No. 28) are also ranked in first-round territory. Fellow freshmen PJ Washington (No. 40 overall), Jarred Vanderbilt (No. 41) and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (No. 47) are in the mid-second round range.

If ESPN’s latest NBA Draft projection comes true, UK’s only basketball commitment for the class of 2018 will be in Lexington for only one season.

Immanuel Quickley is the No. 6 pick in ESPN’s new mock draft for 2019, posted by draft analyst Jonathan Givony on Friday morning. Quickley is ranked by Scout.com as the No. 8 overall prospect in the 2018 class and committed to UK last week.

The rest of the mock draft is heavy on UK players and recruiting targets.
