As expected, UK signee Dontaie Allen missed all three of Pendleton County’s games at the Ashland Invitational this past weekend after suffering a knee injury in a game on Dec. 22.

Without its star player, Pendleton County lost all three games at the event: 72-63 to Seneca, 66-55 to host Ashland Blazer, and 69-44 to Louisville Christian. Pendleton County entered the tournament with a 9-4 record, and Allen had averaged 42.9 points and 14.2 rebounds in those 13 games.

The Wildcats’ next game is scheduled to be played at Sayre on Friday, and it will be Allen’s only regular-season game in Lexington, his future home. His availability for that game will be determined later this week. Pendleton County head coach Keaton Belcher said a Wednesday MRI at UK Hospital showed nothing abnormal in Allen’s knee, and he’s been told to rest and ice until he feels better.

UK basketball signee Dontaie Allen is expected to miss all three of Pendleton County’s games at this week’s Ashland Invitational with a knee injury, his head coach said Wednesday.

Pendleton County Coach Keaton Belcher said Allen — a 6-foot-6 wing and the state’s leading scorer and rebounder this season — is still limping badly from an injury suffered in the second quarter of last week’s game against Cooper. He’s due to be re-evaluated at UK Hospital on Wednesday night.

Pendleton County basketball star Dontaie Allen left Saturday’s game in the second quarter and did not return, scoring 10 points in the Wildcats’ 61-24 loss to Cooper in the Phillip Wood Classic.

Allen, a UK signee, went down with a knee injury and did not play in the second half. He was taken to Lexington for evaluation, and X-rays on his knee came back negative. The Herald-Leader was told Saturday night that Allen should be considered day-to-day.

In 12 minutes of play before he was injured Saturday afternoon, Allen recorded 10 points and was 2-for-7 from the field (all three-point attempts) while making all four of his free throw attempts. He also had two rebounds, two blocked shots and one assist.
