Chandler

Rivals.com national analyst Corey Evans has logged a new Future Cast prediction in favor of Tennessee for five-star recruit Kennedy Chandler, the only point guard with a UK scholarship offer for the 2021 class.

Chandler — a 6-foot point guard from the Memphis area — will play his senior season at Sunrise Christian in Kansas, and he’s narrowed his recruitment to Kentucky, Duke, Memphis, North Carolina and Tennessee. Rivals.com ranks him as the No. 10 overall recruit and No. 1 point guard in the 2021 class.

Huntley-Hatfield

Rivals.com national analyst Corey Evans has put in new predictions for five-star recruits Skyy Clark and Brandon Huntley-Hatfield, and both of those picks are in favor of Kentucky.

Clark and Huntley-Hatfield are the only two players in the class of 2022 with UK scholarship offers so far, though both have been open about the possibility of reclassifying to 2021.

Huntley-Hatfield — a 6-foot-9 forward from Clarksville, Tenn. — is expected to make that move to 2021, which would make the upcoming season his final in high school basketball. Rivals ranks him as the No. 6 overall player in the 2022 class.

Clark — a 6-2 combo guard now living in Nashville — picked up a UK scholarship offer last week and visited Lexington for the Kentucky-Auburn game toward the end of this past season. Rivals ranks him as the No. 17 overall player in the 2022 class, and UK is seen as a major favorite at this stage in his recruitment.

Skyy Clark

247Sports national analyst Jerry Meyer logged two new Crystal Ball predictions related to Kentucky basketball recruiting targets Tuesday, and one went in favor of the Wildcats.

First, the bad — but not unexpected — news for UK: Meyer is predicting that No. 1-ranked prospect Jonathan Kuminga will turn pro straight out of high school instead of playing one season of college basketball. Kuminga — a 6-foot-8 forward from Congo — graduated from his New Jersey high school earlier this month and is expected to formally announce that he is reclassifying to 2020 sometime soon. Kuminga has narrowed his choices to Kentucky, Auburn, Duke, Texas Tech and the G League, and he’s widely expected to choose the professional path. 247Sports recruiting expert Evan Daniels is also predicting that Kuminga will pick the G League.

Chet Holmgren is new No. 1 recruit in ESPN rankings

Holmgren

For more than a year, Jonathan Kuminga has been the undisputed No. 1 player in the basketball recruiting class of 2021, holding the top spots in the Rivals.com, 247Sports and ESPN rankings.

The bigger rankings debate for that group has been centered on who should come next in the class, with the top candidates being smooth-shooting 6-foot-9 forward Patrick Baldwin Jr., versatile 6-10 power forward Paolo Banchero, and unique 7-foot prospect Chet Holmgren.

Though Kuminga has not yet officially announced a move to the 2020 class, he did graduate from his New Jersey high school over the weekend, and it’s become even more clear that reclassification is a foregone conclusion. So, who will be the new No. 1 in 2021?

Cisse

247Sports national analyst Evan Daniels has added a prediction to the Crystal Ball page of five-star center Moussa Cisse, and it’s another pick in favor of Louisiana State.

Daniels’ prediction — made Thursday morning — joins a flurry of pro-LSU picks in the 24 hours since Cisse announced he was reclassifying to 2020 and would announce a college decision next week. National recruiting experts Eric Bossi and Brian Snow put in picks for LSU shortly after Cisse’s announcement Wednesday, and Rivals.com national analyst Corey Evans said this week that he was sticking with his LSU prediction, which was made last fall.

Cisse

The confirmation Wednesday morning that five-star center Moussa Cisse is reclassifying to 2020 and making his college decision next week has brought more predictions from national recruiting analysts.

Rivals.com national analyst Eric Bossi put in a Future Cast prediction and 247Sports recruiting insider Brian Snow logged a Crystal Ball pick — both in favor of Louisiana State — on Cisse’s pages Wednesday morning, more good news for the Tigers in their pursuit of Cisse, who is also considering Kentucky, Florida State, Georgetown, Georgia and Memphis.

Snow put a confidence level of “7” (out of 10) on his Cisse pick, and two insiders for the 247Sports LSU affiliate also logged predictions in favor of the Tigers on Wednesday morning. Last fall, Rivals.com national analyst Corey Evans put in a prediction for LSU, and he’s sticking with that pick in Cisse’s recruitment.

Kaufman

There’s more momentum for Indiana in the recruitment of Trey Kaufman, a talented forward who has been on UK’s recruiting radar since last year.

Mike Pegram — the Indiana insider for the 247Sports’ Hoosiers site — logged a new Crystal Ball prediction in favor of IU, which already had public predictions going their way from national recruiting experts Corey Evans and Andrew Slater.

Kaufman — a 6-foot-8 forward from Sellersburg, Ind. — is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 41 overall player in the 2021 class. Indiana, Louisville, Purdue and Xavier have generally been seen as a top four in his recruitment, but several other schools are keeping tabs on him, and he was expected to be one of the main players on Kentucky’s watch list had the April evaluation periods gone on as planned last month.

Brandon Boston

Rivals.com finalized its class of 2020 basketball rankings this week, and the list included three Kentucky signees in five-star territory with the other three all inside the national top 50.

Brandon Boston remains Kentucky’s top-ranked recruit in the class, sticking at No. 4 overall in the final Rivals rankings. ESPN and 247Sports also ranked Boston as the Wildcats’ top signee, with 247 putting him at No. 5 and ESPN placing him sixth nationally.

Fellow UK shooting guard signee Terrence Clarke fell two spots in the final Rivals 150 but still comes in at No. 7 overall, making Kentucky the only school in the 2020 cycle to land two players inside the top 10.

Mutombo

Rivals.com national analyst Corey Evans has logged a Future Cast prediction in favor of Georgetown for highly touted center Ryan Mutombo, the son of former NBA great Dikembe Mutombo.

Mutombo — a still-growing, 6-foot-11 prospect in the class of 2021 — is currently ranked No. 83 in that class by Rivals.com, but he’s been rocketing up the recruiting lists lately and is expected to continue his rise in the near future. 247Sports’ recently updated rankings pegged Mutombo as the No. 43 player in the class.

The Herald-Leader spoke to Mutombo’s high school coach, Mike Harner, in Atlanta late last month, and he said that they were still hoping to hear from Kentucky, which, as of late April, had not yet reached out.
