Beau Allen

Rivals.com is rolling out updated football rankings for the class of 2020 this week, and there’s a familiar name on one of the lists at a marquee position.

Lexington Catholic quarterback Beau Allen — a major UK target — is ranked by Rivals as the No. 11 pro-style quarterback in the class of 2020. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound prospect picked up a UK scholarship offer early in his high school career, and his father is a former UK football player.

Michigan is among the other schools that have offered Allen, who completed 204 of 329 passes for 2,873 yards and 33 touchdowns with nine interceptions in 13 games as a sophomore this past season.

Possible graduate transfer Reid Travis has arrived in Lexington for his official visit to Kentucky, according to Minneapolis Star Tribune reporter Marcus R. Fuller.

Travis — a Minneapolis native — announced recently that he will leave Stanford for his final season of college basketball. The 6-foot-8 forward graduated from the university over the weekend and averaged 19.5 points and 8.7 rebounds per game for the Cardinal as a junior this past season.

Kentucky and Villanova are the two finalists for Travis, who has not yet set up a visit to see the other Wildcats’ campus in Philadelphia. Many basketball observers consider UK to be the heavy favorite for Travis, who could commit to the Cats as early as this week and would be eligible to play right away this season.

Matthew Hurt

National recruiting analyst Andrew Slater has logged a new Crystal Ball prediction in favor of Kansas for five-star power forward Matthew Hurt, one of UK’s top targets in the class of 2019.

Hurt — a 6-foot-9 prospect from Rochester, Minn. — was recently announced as part of the 12-player USA Basketball U18 team after taking part in that squad’s training camp in Colorado over the past week. Kansas Coach Bill Self is coaching the U18 team — meaning he’ll get plenty of time with Hurt — and the Jayhawks were seen by many as the favorites in his recruitment even before the U18 tryouts.
