Five-star point guard Nico Mannion, who recently reclassified from 2020 to 2019, trimmed his list to four schools Saturday, and Kentucky is no longer in the mix.

Mannion — a 6-foot-3 prospect from Phoenix, Ariz. — is now considering Arizona, Duke, Marquette and Villanova. He did not have a scholarship offer from UK, but he did have multiple phone conversations with John Calipari in the days after his decision to reclassify.

247Sports immediately moved Mannion to the No. 11 spot in the 2019 rankings after he announced his reclassification. Arizona is the leader on his Crystal Ball page.

Wiseman

Top UK basketball recruiting target James Wiseman is staying put at Memphis East High School, according to ESPN 92.9’s John Martin.

Wiseman — a 7-footer in the class of 2019 — left his hometown of Nashville last year to play at Memphis East for head coach Penny Hardaway, who had been his Nike league coach the previous summer.

There had been speculation that Wiseman would attend prep school for his senior season now that Hardaway has taken the Memphis coaching job. Wiseman and his mother said throughout the spring and summer that he would return to Memphis East, however. Martin said Wiseman’s mother confirmed to him Tuesday that the top prospect is enrolled at Memphis East.

Three-star defensive lineman Cavon Butler announced his commitment to Kentucky for the class of 2019 on Friday afternoon.

Butler — a 6-foot-3, 285-pound prospect from Toledo — is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 53 defensive tackle nationally in his class. He attended an Alabama camp in late June and said afterward that he had received a scholarship offer from Coach Nick Saban.

Moses Douglass is the only other UK commitment from the state of Ohio in this class so far.

UK Coach John Calipari was on the recruiting trail Friday night to see Pendleton County star Dontaie Allen play in the Louisville Jam Fest, his final recruiting event of the July evaluation period.

Allen — a 6-foot-6 wing — is set to visit UK on Wednesday, and he could receive a scholarship offer from the Wildcats during that trip. He’ll be one of the frontrunners for Mr. Basketball honors as a senior this season. Rivals.com and 247Sports have both elevated him to Top 100 status in the 2019 class this month, and he’s picked up recent offers from Louisville, Florida, Xavier and several other top programs.

Calipari watched Allen play for the first time a couple of weeks ago at the Under Armour Challenge. The UK coach called Allen a few days later to set up next week’s campus visit.

Five-star basketball recruit Kahlil Whitney says he has received a scholarship offer from Kentucky.

Whitney — a 6-foot-6 wing player in the class of 2019 — told Scott Burgess of Prep Hoops on Friday that he has picked up the UK offer. “It was great. Coach Cal reached out to me after one of my games at the Peach Jam Invitational and talked to me. He wants to get me on campus soon. So, yeah, it was cool.”
