Huntley-Hatfield

Five-star recruit Brandon Huntley-Hatfield announced Thursday that he has narrowed his recruitment, but he still has 11 schools on his list of options.

Huntley-Hatfield — a 6-foot-9 forward from Clarksville, Tenn. — is now considering Kentucky, Auburn, Baylor, Georgetown, Georgia, Howard, Kansas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

Rivals.com ranks Huntley-Hatfield as the No. 5 overall recruit in the 2022 class, though he is considering a move to the class of 2021, and national analyst Corey Evans told the Herald-Leader recently that he thinks Huntley-Hatfield will ultimately reclassify. The Tennessee native is a close family friend of former UK player Alex Poythress, and the Wildcats are generally seen as the favorites in his recruitment.

Anselem

Four-star center Frank Anselem narrowed his recruiting choices to six schools Friday afternoon, and Kentucky is still in the mix.

Anselem — a 6-foot-9 prospect from Nigeria who just wrapped up his final season of high school ball in California — is considering UK along with Arkansas, San Diego State, Seton Hall, Syracuse and Western Kentucky.

Kentucky Coach John Calipari has already had a video conference with Anselem and his camp, and UK’s assistant coaches have been talking to his travel league coach, Julius Smith, since early last week. 247Sports ranks Anselem as the No. 119 overall prospect in the 2020 class, and he could provide UK with additional frontcourt depth for next season, something the Wildcats have been searching for all spring.

Chandler

Five-star point guard recruit Kennedy Chandler narrowed his college list to five schools Thursday, and Kentucky is still in the running for his commitment.

Chandler — a 6-foot-1 playmaker from Memphis — is now down to Duke, Kentucky, Memphis, North Carolina and Tennessee. There is no specific timetable for his college decision, which is not expected anytime in the near future. Chandler is the top available point guard in the 2021 class and the No. 15 overall player in that group, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Cisse

Class of 2021 basketball standout Moussa Cisse revealed his top 10 schools Sunday night, and Kentucky made the list.

Cisse — a 6-foot-10, 220-pound center from Guinea — included UK along with Alabama, Florida State, Georgetown, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana State, Memphis, Southern Cal and Tennessee. He’s the No. 8 overall player in the 2021 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

National recruiting experts have predicted that Cisse would try to reclassify from 2021 to 2020 and play college basketball next season. He averaged 23.2 points, 14.2 rebounds and 8.7 blocked shots per game this past season, leading his team to a state title in Tennessee.

Smith

Elite basketball prospect Jabari Smith told Tipton Edits that six schools — Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida State, and Georgia Tech — are prioritizing him at this stage of his recruitment.

Smith — a highly versatile power forward from Sandy Creek, Ga. — is the No. 5 overall player in the 2021 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Kentucky showed some interest in Smith last year, but there’s been little buzz surrounding the Wildcats and his recruitment in recent months.

Holmgren

There still hasn’t been much Kentucky buzz surrounding Chet Holmgren — the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2021 class, according to 247Sports — but the high school basketball star does apparently have a group of major colleges circling his recruitment.

Holmgren has told Tipton Edits that North Carolina, Minnesota, Gonzaga, Ohio State, Memphis, Maryland, and Georgetown are the schools prioritizing him at this stage in the recruiting process.

Kuminga

Five-star forward Jonathan Kuminga — the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2021 class — narrowed his recruitment to 10 schools Wednesday, and there was a notable omission.

Kuminga did not list Louisiana State among his many choices, a surprise given that the Tigers had been seen as a possible favorite by recruiting insiders in recent weeks. The 10 schools that did make Kuminga’s latest list were Kentucky, Auburn, Duke, Florida State, Georgia, Maryland, Memphis, Michigan, Texas Tech and Washington.

UK Coach John Calipari has made several trips to New Jersey this fall to visit Kuminga at The Patrick School — which is also Nick Richards’ alma mater — and the Wildcats are clearly making the 6-foot-8 forward from Congo a major recruiting priority.

Fletcher

Highly touted basketball recruit Cam’Ron Fletcher released his final five schools Tuesday night, and Kentucky is among the programs still in contention for his commitment.

Fletcher — a 6-foot-6, 180-pound wing from the St. Louis area — has narrowed his list to UK, Alabama, Michigan State, Missouri and North Carolina. He told Tipton Edits earlier this month that he plans to announce his college decision in late August or early September, and he’s expected to take official visits to all five of his finalists.

Kentucky extended a scholarship offer to Fletcher last month while the class of 2020 prospect was in Lexington for an official visit. Kenny Payne has been the point man on his recruitment, and the Wildcats have had the highly athletic recruit on their radar for a while.

Johnny Juzang

Five-star shooting guard Johnny Juzang, who recently announced that he is reclassifying to 2019, revealed Sunday evening that he has narrowed his recruitment to four schools schools.

Juzang — a 6-foot-6 prospect from Los Angeles — is down to Kansas, Kentucky, Oregon and Virginia, and UK is widely seen as the favorite. He is scheduled to begin his official visit to Lexington on Monday, and a college decision could come soon after that trip. He has no other official visits scheduled, and his only previous one was a trip to Virginia in the fall.

247Sports national analyst Jerry Meyer is among many recruiting experts now predicting that Juzang will end up at Kentucky.

Lewis

Highly touted guard Kira Lewis released his updated recruiting list Tuesday, and Kentucky is not one of the 12 schools still in contention.

Lewis — a 6-2 prospect from Hazel Green, Ala. — visited Lexington in June and was watched several times by the Wildcats’ coaching staff this spring and summer, but UK never extended a scholarship offer and appears to be focused on other guards in the 2019 class.

His new list of 12 schools includes Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Georgia, Houston, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, Louisiana State, Mississippi, Providence and Texas Christian. Lewis has also mentioned the possibility of reclassifying to 2018, though a decision on that is not yet final.
