Igiehon

Ireland native Aidan Igiehon has been one of the fastest-rising basketball recruits in the class of 2019 this spring, and Louisville could now be well-positioned for his commitment.

Igiehon — a 6-foot-10 power forward now living in New York — is scheduled to visit U of L on Thursday, and 247Sports national recruiting analysts Evan Daniels and Josh Gershon both logged picks in favor of the Cardinals on Igiehon’s Crystal Ball page Wednesday. Daniels is a perfect 18-for-18 with his Crystal Ball picks so far in the 2019 recruiting cycle.

Earlier in the week, national recruiting analysts Andrew Slater and Jerry Meyer logged predictions in favor of St. John’s for Igiehon, who plays on the Under Armour circuit and is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 14 overall prospect in the 2019 class.

Thirteen days after announcing his commitment to the University of Kentucky, in-state football standout Shawnkel Knight-Goff has re-opened his recruitment.

Knight-Goff — a 6-foot-4, 210-pound defensive lineman from Doss High School in Louisville — is the No. 43 weakside defensive end in the class of 2019, according to the 247Sports rankings.

He announced Thursday night that he’s no longer committed to Kentucky.

Louisville is now the leader for a Top 100 basketball prospect in the class of 2019, according to several national recruiting analysts.

Four-star shooting guard Josh Nickelberry, who visited U of L last weekend, is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 60 overall prospect in the 2019 class. On Friday, the Cards received several Crystal Ball picks in his recruitment, including predictions in their favor from national analysts Evan Daniels, Jerry Meyer and Brian Snow.

Nickelberry is a 6-4 player from Fayetteville, N.C., and he’s been on the national recruiting radar for years. His previously reported scholarship offers include North Carolina, N.C. State, Florida, UConn, Georgetown, Maryland, Xavier and Memphis, among many others.

So far, new Louisville head coach Chris Mack has zero signees for the class of 2018 and zero commitments for the class of 2019. Transfer Christen Cunningham has been the only addition to the Cardinals’ roster to this point, though they’re still looking to add another player for next season.

Nickelberry would be big for the Cardinals’ future recruiting plans. Louisville is also considered the favorite for Trinity guard David Johnson, a former U of L commitment who is ranked No. 54 nationally in the class of 2019 by 247Sports.

Following his scholarship offer from Xavier on Monday afternoon, Dontaie Allen also picked up the first school prediction on his 247Sports Crystal Ball page.

247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Snow, who covered Allen at a recent event in Indianapolis, is now picking the Musketeers for the in-state basketball standout from Pendleton County.

Xavier Coach Travis Steele watched Allen — a 6-foot-7 small forward — play on back-to-back days in Indianapolis as part of the final evaluation period of the spring. U of L head coach Chris Mack also watched Allen in one of those games.

Pendleton County basketball standout Dontaie Allen generated some buzz over the weekend, playing for MATTS Mustangs at the Terrific 24 event in the Indianapolis area.

247Sports recruiting analyst Brian Snow singled out Allen as a high-major prospect in a write-up Saturday, noting that coaches from Purdue, Providence and Xavier were all there to watch him play that day.

On Sunday morning, new Louisville head coach Chris Mack turned away from the Nike and Under Armour events in the area just to see Allen play. He was joined by Xavier head coach Travis Steele, who was watching Allen for the second day in a row.

Johnson

Louisville Trinity guard David Johnson has already been committed to the hometown Cardinals once in his recruitment.

The prospect from the class of 2019 committed to U of L under head coach Rick Pitino and then backed off of that pledge after Pitino was let go last fall. The 247Sports Crystal Ball says Johnson should be a Cardinal again in the future.

National recruiting analyst Evan Daniels, who has a near-100-percent success rate with Crystal Ball picks, is the latest to log a pro-Louisville prediction for Johnson, who is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 41 overall prospect in the 2019 class.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball continues to trend from Kentucky to Louisville on four-star tight end Leonard Taylor, who is at U of L for his official visit this weekend.

Taylor — a 6-foot-6 prospect from Ohio — took an official visit to UK last month, and Ohio recruiting analyst Bill Greene told the Herald-Leader last week that he thought the Cats still had the best shot to land his commitment. The hang-up was that Kentucky had started recruiting Taylor as a defensive end, and tight end might still be his preferred position in college.

Four-star football recruit Leonard Taylor is expected to take his official visit to Louisville this weekend, and there’s a new prediction in favor of the Cardinals on his 247Sports Crystal Ball page.

Mike Hughes, who covers U of L for 247Sports, logged a pick for the Cardinals on Taylor’s page Thursday morning. A large majority of the predictions for Taylor have gone in favor of the Wildcats, who have been recruiting him for more than a year.

UK has been recruiting the versatile Taylor — a 6-foot-6 prospect from Ohio — as a defensive end, but he’s been projected as a tight end for most of his high school career.

Koprivica

Five-star basketball recruit Balsa Koprivica is expected to get a visit from Kentucky on Thursday, according to 247Sports analyst Andrew Slater.

Koprivica — a 7-footer from Florida — is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 1 center and No. 7 overall recruit in the 2019 class. He already has scholarship offers from Arizona, Kansas, Louisville, UCLA and many other top schools.

U of L hosted Koprivica for an unofficial visit last weekend, and the Cardinals have taken a sizable early lead on the star player’s 247Sports Crystal Ball page.
