Maxey

ESPN’s latest NBA mock draft for next year is out, and it includes a trio of Kentucky Wildcats in the first round.

Incoming guard Tyrese Maxey is the highest-ranked player on ESPN’s board, listed at No. 12 overall, which would put him in lottery range. The early mock draft also includes fellow freshman Kahlil Whitney at No. 19 overall and returning point guard Ashton Hagans at No. 30, the final pick of the first round.

Tyler Herro moving up the NBA Draft boards

Herro

ESPN has once again updated its Top 100 player rankings for this year’s NBA Draft, and UK freshman Tyler Herro keeps moving in the right direction.

Herro is now the No. 27 overall player on ESPN’s board — placing him in late-first round territory. He has moved up five spots since ESPN’s most recent mock draft a little more than two weeks ago. Herro was No. 40 overall the last time the Top 100 rankings were updated in mid-January.

The other UK player with the most interesting postseason decision to make will be freshman guard Ashton Hagans, who is No. 40 in ESPN’s new rankings. That’s 10 spots outside of the first round, though there’s obviously plenty of time for Hagans to keep moving toward that draft range.

Washington

ESPN’s list of the top NBA Draft prospects for 2019 was updated Thursday morning, and it now includes four Kentucky Wildcats among the top 50 players.

UK freshman Keldon Johnson remains the top Cat on the board at No. 10 overall, and he’s followed by sophomore forward PJ Washington at No. 20, well within first-round territory.

Further down the list are UK freshmen guards Tyler Herro (No. 40 overall) and Ashton Hagans (No. 43), both in positions that would put them in the middle of the second round of this year’s draft. No other UK players made the list, including post players EJ Montgomery and Nick Richards, two Wildcats who could be very important to the team’s 2019-20 roster if they decide to stick around for another season.

Kevin Knox

The last few weeks have not been kind to the NBA Draft prospects of this young Kentucky basketball team.

ESPN released its latest Top 100 rankings for the 2018 draft Monday morning, and several Wildcats dropped on the list.

Kevin Knox (No. 10) and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (No. 19) are in roughly the same spots they were for the ESPN update in mid-January, but they’re now the only two UK players in first-round territory.

Hamidou Diallo is now at No. 44 overall — a drop of 20 spots from a few weeks ago — and in mid-second-round territory. Jarred Vanderbilt has fallen seven spots to No. 57 overall over the past few weeks. That would put him among the last picks in the draft.

Gilgeous-Alexander

UK freshman Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been the Wildcats’ best player over the past few weeks, and it’s looking like that could lead to him playing only one season in a Kentucky uniform.

ESPN’s latest Top 100 rankings for the 2018 NBA Draft were posted Thursday morning, and Gilgeous-Alexander has moved up to the No. 18 overall position — just four spots out of the lottery range. In a separate post Thursday, analysts from ESPN noted that Gilgeous-Alexander is making a strong case to be the third-best guard in this draft class — behind Trae Young and Collin Sexton.

Seven Kentucky basketball players are listed among the top 100 prospects for next year’s NBA Draft in the latest update from ESPN released Tuesday morning.

Freshman Kevin Knox is the top Wildcat on the list at No. 10 overall, and Hamidou Diallo (No. 21) and Nick Richards (No. 28) are also ranked in first-round territory. Fellow freshmen PJ Washington (No. 40 overall), Jarred Vanderbilt (No. 41) and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (No. 47) are in the mid-second round range.

Kevin Knox

ESPN draft insider Jonathan Givony has a new NBA mock draft up for 2018, and four Kentucky Wildcats are projected as selections.

Freshman forward Kevin Knox is the top Cat listed — going No. 10 overall to the Los Angeles Clippers. He’s followed by fellow freshmen Hamidou Diallo (No. 20), Nick Richards (No. 26) and PJ Washington (No. 37). There are 30 picks in the first round of the NBA Draft.

In that scenario, UK would return seven scholarship players next season: juniors Wenyen Gabriel, Sacha Killeya-Jones and Tai Wynyard, and sophomores Jemarl Baker, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Quade Green and Jarred Vanderbilt. Baker and Vanderbilt have yet to play this season due to injuries.

Quickley

If ESPN’s latest NBA Draft projection comes true, UK’s only basketball commitment for the class of 2018 will be in Lexington for only one season.

Immanuel Quickley is the No. 6 pick in ESPN’s new mock draft for 2019, posted by draft analyst Jonathan Givony on Friday morning. Quickley is ranked by Scout.com as the No. 8 overall prospect in the 2018 class and committed to UK last week.

The rest of the mock draft is heavy on UK players and recruiting targets.
