Dante

Oregon and Kentucky have been getting most of the buzz in N’Faly Dante‘s recruitment lately, but a prominent national analyst logged a new prediction for Louisiana State on Sunday.

Rivals.com’s Corey Evans is now picking LSU for Dante, the near-7-footer who led his Mokan Elite squad to a Peach Jam title Sunday. Though currently listed as the No. 9 overall player in the 2020 class, Dante is widely expected to jump to the 2019 class and play college basketball this season.

Kentucky hosted the Mali native for an official visit earlier this month, and the Wildcats are clearly still looking for another player to join next season’s frontcourt, which already includes Nick Richards, EJ Montgomery and graduate transfer Nate Sestina.

Dante

Five-star big man N’Faly Dante will start a recruiting visit to Lexington on Thursday, according to the Tipton Edits Twitter account.

Dante — a 7-footer from Mali — is the No. 11 prospect in the 2020 composite rankings from 247Sports, but he’s long been rumored as a candidate to reclassify to 2019, and the buzz in recruiting circles has indicated that he’s likely to make that move and play college basketball this coming season.

The news of Dante’s planned visit comes as Virginia Tech star Kerry Blackshear is still mulling his transfer decision, though Kentucky’s chances to land his commitment have dwindled in recent days. UK’s current frontcourt for next season includes Nick Richards, EJ Montgomery and graduate transfer Nate Sestina, alongside several talented guards and wings that can play multiple positions.

Maxey

UK basketball signee Tyrese Maxey and a couple of five-star Wildcats recruiting targets will be on national television Friday night as part of the annual Nike Hoop Summit all-star game.

Maxey and highly touted forward Matthew Hurt — one of UK’s top remaining targets in the 2019 class — will represent USA Basketball at the event. The American roster also features Memphis signee James Wiseman, Florida signee Scottie Lewis and several other top high school seniors.

Five-star center N’Faly Dante — a Mali native and the second player in the 2020 class to land a UK scholarship offer — will represent the World Team, which also features former UK target Oscar Tshiebwe, a West Virginia signee. Dante is considering a move to the 2019 class, which would allow him to play college basketball next season, and Kentucky remains a legitimate player in his recruitment.

The Nike Hoop Summit will be played in Portland, Ore., and televised live at 10 p.m. Friday on ESPN2.

INDIANAPOLIS — A day after UK’s scholarship offer to Scottie Barnes became public, another talented basketball prospect in the class of 2020 has landed one.

N’Faly Dante is the second recruit from the current sophomore to class to get an offer from Kentucky, according to national recruiting analyst Andrew Slater.

Dante, like Barnes, plays on the Nike circuit. The 6-foot-11 center from Mali now plays for Sunrise Christian in Kansas and has been one of the most buzzed about prospects on the spring basketball circuit. He played for the victorious World Select Team at the Nike Hoop Summit earlier this month and is averaging 16.8 points and 9.0 rebounds through five games of Nike EYBL play.
