Barnes

National recruiting expert Andrew Slater logged a new Crystal Ball prediction this week in favor of Oregon for five-star basketball prospect Scottie Barnes, the first player from the 2020 class to land a scholarship offer from Kentucky.

Barnes — a versatile 6-foot-8 small forward from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — took official visits to Florida State and Oregon this fall, and he told Rivals.com last month that Kentucky, Alabama, Duke, Kansas, Miami and Ohio State are also among the schools recruiting him hard.

Four-star linebacker Jared Casey has decommitted from Oregon, and Kentucky is looking like the new favorite in his recruitment.

Casey — a standout player at Ballard High School in Louisville — committed to the Ducks in October, and UK was one of his top schools at the time of that pledge. He hosted Kentucky coaches for an in-home visit earlier this week, and his decommitment became public Tuesday night.

Tyler Herro

Kentucky is expected to get its third basketball commitment for the class of 2018 on Tuesday.

Four-star shooting guard Tyler Herro — a 6-foot-5 prospect from Milwaukee — is scheduled to announce his college decision at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, the day before the end of the early signing period.

Herro wrapped up his official visit to Lexington on Sunday, and UK is the only school that he will see before making his college announcement. Kansas, Oregon, Villanova and Butler have all been recruiting Herro since he decommitted from Wisconsin last month, but he hasn’t taken trips to any of those schools.

King

247Sports national recruiting insider Andrew Slater made a Crystal Ball change Tuesday, switching a prediction for five-star forward Louis King from Kentucky to Oregon.

King — a 6-foot-7 prospect from New Jersey — played on John Calipari’s USA Basketball U19 team last month in Egypt and has played several games in front of the UK coach on the Nike circuit this summer. Still, he does not have a scholarship offer from the Wildcats.

Oregon has been prioritizing King for months, and he’s expected to announce a shortened list sometime soon. He is the No. 14 overall prospect in the 2018 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
