Todd

A few recruiting notes for Thursday …

Kentucky coaches will be in North Carolina on Monday — the first day of the fall recruiting period — to see five-star forward Isaiah Todd, according to USA Today’s Jason Jordan. Todd is one of the Wildcats’ top remaining targets for the 2020 class and an important prospect as UK looks to add some frontcourt players to its group of commitments for next year.

UK coaches will also be in Memphis later this month to see 2021 point guard Kennedy Chandler, according to the Commercial Appeal’s Mark Giannotto. Chandler has emerged as a five-star recruit in the 2021 class and has been on UK’s radar for a while. Giannotto also reported that coaches from Duke and Tennessee are expected to visit Chandler next week to start off the fall recruiting period.

Dante

Rivals.com national analyst Corey Evans has logged a new Future Cast prediction in favor of Oregon for five-star center N’Faly Dante, a top recruit in the 2020 class who is expected to reclassify to 2019 and play college basketball this season.

Though recruiting experts are having a tough time pegging a clear favorite for Dante, the consensus is that he will choose either Oregon and Kentucky, and a college decision — as well as final word on reclassification — is expected very soon.

Dante

Oregon and Kentucky have been getting most of the buzz in N’Faly Dante‘s recruitment lately, but a prominent national analyst logged a new prediction for Louisiana State on Sunday.

Rivals.com’s Corey Evans is now picking LSU for Dante, the near-7-footer who led his Mokan Elite squad to a Peach Jam title Sunday. Though currently listed as the No. 9 overall player in the 2020 class, Dante is widely expected to jump to the 2019 class and play college basketball this season.

Kentucky hosted the Mali native for an official visit earlier this month, and the Wildcats are clearly still looking for another player to join next season’s frontcourt, which already includes Nick Richards, EJ Montgomery and graduate transfer Nate Sestina.

Cunningham

National recruiting experts Andrew Slater and Brian Snow are the latest to add predictions in favor of Oklahoma State to the 247Sports Crystal Ball page of five-star guard Cade Cunningham.

The 6-foot-7 playmaker from Texas recently narrowed his list to 10 schools, including Kentucky, and has been one of the top prospects in the 2020 class this spring. Oklahoma State, however, has emerged as the consensus favorite in his recruitment.

Slater and Snow join 247Sports national analysts Evan Daniels and Jerry Meyer, as well as Rivals.com national analysts Eric Bossi and Corey Evans, in making predictions in favor of the Cowboys for Cunningham, who has risen to No. 2 in the Rivals rankings and No. 3 on 247Sports’ list for 2020.

Boston

There was a flurry of Crystal Ball activity related to top recruits in the 2020 class Wednesday, and it contained both good and bad news for Kentucky.

First, the good: national recruiting experts Jerry Meyer and Andrew Slater both logged predictions in favor of the Wildcats for five-star shooting guard Brandon Boston, one of the best perimeter prospects in the country and the No. 8 overall player in the 247Sports composite rankings for the class of 2020.

Boston — a 6-foot-6 recruit from the Atlanta area — visited Kentucky for a home game a few months ago and recently told the Herald-Leader that he was impressed by that trip.

RJ Hampton

Rivals.com national analysts Eric Bossi and Corey Evans have logged new predictions on a couple of major UK basketball targets over the past few days, and both picks have gone against the Wildcats.

Bossi has put in a prediction in favor of Duke for five-star forward Matthew Hurt, who is expected to choose among the Blue Devils, Kentucky, Kansas and North Carolina on Friday afternoon. Todd

Rivals.com national analyst Eric Bossi has logged a prediction in favor of Kentucky for five-star basketball recruit Isaiah Todd, one of the top prospects in the class of 2020.

Todd — a 6-foot-9 power forward at Trinity Academy (N.C.) — landed a UK scholarship offer after a visit with John Calipari last week and is now widely expected to reclassify to 2019 and play college basketball next season. He will play this spring and summer with Team Melo on the Nike circuit.

Edwards

There have been a few new predictions of note over the past week on the Rivals.com FutureCast pages — that recruiting service’s counterpart to the 247Sports Crystal Ball — relating to some of UK’s remaining targets in the 2019 class.

Georgia now has 100 percent of the predictions for five-star shooting guard Anthony Edwards, who will announce his college decision Monday morning. Kentucky and Florida State are the other two finalists for Edwards — an Atlanta area prospect — but Rivals.com analysts Eric Bossi, Corey Evans and Dan McDonald are among those predicting he will pick the Bulldogs.

Four-star linebacker Jared Casey has decommitted from Oregon, and Kentucky is looking like the new favorite in his recruitment.

Casey — a standout player at Ballard High School in Louisville — committed to the Ducks in October, and UK was one of his top schools at the time of that pledge. He hosted Kentucky coaches for an in-home visit earlier this week, and his decommitment became public Tuesday night.

CJ Walker

National recruiting expert Andrew Slater logged a Crystal Ball pick in favor of Kentucky for four-star power forward CJ Walker on Thursday morning, a day after the class of 2019 prospect announced he was ready to make his college decision.

Walker — a 6-9 player at Oak Ridge High School in Florida — revealed Wednesday that he will announce his college decision on Nov. 21, the final day of the early signing period. The twist here is that Walker has long been down to three schools — Louisiana State, Miami and Oregon — and those were the only three programs included in his video previewing the college announcement Wednesday.
