Kentucky is expected to get its third basketball commitment for the class of 2018 on Tuesday.

Four-star shooting guard Tyler Herro — a 6-foot-5 prospect from Milwaukee — is scheduled to announce his college decision at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, the day before the end of the early signing period.

Herro wrapped up his official visit to Lexington on Sunday, and UK is the only school that he will see before making his college announcement. Kansas, Oregon, Villanova and Butler have all been recruiting Herro since he decommitted from Wisconsin last month, but he hasn’t taken trips to any of those schools.

Four-star shooting guard Tyler Herro said Sunday night that he will announce his college decision Tuesday, one day before the end of the early signing period and just a couple of days after wrapping up his official visit to Kentucky.

UK has emerged as the major favorite in the recruitment of Herro, a 6-foot-5 prospect from Milwaukee who backed out of a commitment to Wisconsin last month. He took his first official visit to UK over the weekend, and he will not be visiting any other schools between now and his college announcement.

Four-star shooting guard Tyler Herro received a scholarship offer from John Calipari during the UK coach’s visit to Milwaukee on Tuesday, according to Rivals.com national analyst Corey Evans.

Herro — a 6-foot-5 prospect in the 2018 class — backed off of a commitment to Wisconsin a couple of weeks ago, and UK was one of the first schools to show interest in his new recruitment. He’s also considering Kansas, Oregon, Villanova and Butler, and he’s not expected to make a college decision in time for next week’s early signing period.

Kentucky is also in the mix for five-star combo guard Quentin Grimes and five-star shooting guard Keldon Johnson, who are both expected to make early college decisions. The Cats are finalists for five-star shooting guard R.J. Barrett — the No. 1 player in the 2018 rankings — but UK is seen as a long shot in that recruitment.

UK Coach John Calipari will be in Milwaukee on Tuesday to see four-star shooting guard Tyler Herro, according to Wisconsin basketball insider Mark Miller.

Herro — a 6-foot-5 prospect from Milwaukee — decommitted from Wisconsin earlier this month after being committed to the Badgers for more than a year. He hosted coaches from Kansas, Oregon, Villanova and Butler last week, and he has said that he’s in no hurry to make another college decision.

UK assistant coach Kenny Payne reached out to Herro with a phone call last week to express interest on behalf of the Wildcats’ program. Herro is the No. 36 overall prospect in the class of 2018, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He averaged 23.9 points per game and shot 39 percent from three-point range as a high school junior last season.

Kentucky is among the schools expected to visit four-star shooting guard Tyler Herro this week, according to Wisconsin recruiting insider Evan Flood.

Herro — a 6-foot-5 prospect from Milwaukee — backed off a commitment to the home-state Badgers last week after being pledged to Wisconsin for more than a year. He’s considered a top-40 national player in the class of 2018 by every major recruiting service. (ESPN ranks him the highest at No. 27 overall).
