Pendleton County basketball star Dontaie Allen will take his unofficial visit to Kentucky on June 10, his AAU team announced Friday night.

Allen — a 6-foot-7 forward — has had a tremendous spring with M.A.T.T.S. Mustangs, picking up scholarship offers from West Virginia, Purdue, Virginia Tech and Dayton this week, with other recent offers from Xavier, Nevada and Western Kentucky, among others.

Wiseman

Top UK basketball recruiting target James Wiseman had an in-home visit with Memphis Coach Penny Hardaway and new Tigers assistant coach Mike Miller on Wednesday.

Hardaway was Wiseman’s coach with Team Penny on the Nike circuit last summer, and the 6-foot-11 power forward from Nashville then transferred to Memphis East High School to play for Hardaway this past season.

Wiseman hosted UK Coach John Calipari and assistant coach Joel Justus for an in-home recruiting visit Monday, and he was the first player from the class of 2019 to earn a scholarship offer from the Wildcats.

Carey

John Calipari will not meet with top basketball recruit Vernon Carey on Monday, as had been previously reported, according to college basketball analyst Adam Zagoria.

Calipari did meet with Carey — a 6-foot-10 power forward from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. — last week, and Kentucky remains one of the schools on his list. Carey is the No. 2 overall prospect in the class of 2019, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Other schools on his list include Duke, Miami and Michigan State. Carey averaged 26.0 points and 10.4 rebounds per game while leading his team to a state title this past season.

Terry Wilson

Junior college quarterback Terry Wilson arrived in Lexington on Friday night for his official visit to the University of Kentucky.

Wilson — a 6-foot-3 prospect — has emerged in recent weeks as UK’s top quarterback target for the class of 2018 following the decommitment of Jarren Williams, who has since committed to Miami.

247Sports ranks Wilson as the No. 2 juco quarterback in the 2018 class, and the Oklahoma City native could challenge Drew Barker for the starting job next season if he does pick the Wildcats. He’s also considering Florida and Nebraska.

Calipari has meeting set with five-star recruit Bol Bol

Bol Bol

John Calipari is expected to be in California next weekend for a meeting with five-star recruit Bol Bol, his mother told the Herald-Leader on Sunday.

Bol — a 7-foot-3 power forward at Mater Dei (Calif.) — is ranked by Scout.com as the No. 2 overall recruit in the class of 2018. Five-star wing R.J. Barrett is the only player ranked ahead of Bol on that list, and Barrett was in Lexington earlier this month for his official visit to Kentucky.

Calipari coached Bol at the Team USA training camp in Colorado Springs in June, but Bol did not make the final USA Basketball squad that traveled with UK’s coach to play in the FIBA World Cup in Egypt, an omission that some analysts predicted might hurt UK’s recruitment of Bol, who had previously expressed considerable interest in the Wildcats’ program.

Quickley

As expected, five-star point guard Immanuel Quickley will not take his official visit to Miami this weekend due to the growing threat of Hurricane Irma.

Quickley — a 6-foot-3 prospect from Maryland — visited Kansas last week and is expected to visit UK next week. Miami is the only other school under consideration, and it’s unclear whether he will reschedule that trip.

UK remains the heavy favorite to land Quickley, who is ranked by Scout.com as the No. 8 overall prospect in the class of 2018.
