Williamson

Pretty much every recruiting analyst in the country is predicting that five-star basketball prospect Zion Williamson will commit to Clemson when he makes his college announcement Saturday.

ESPN national recruiting analyst Paul Biancardi had a different pick Monday, predicting during the network’s coverage of the Hoophall Classic that Williamson would choose South Carolina.

“I think it’s a closer race between Clemson and South Carolina than most people think,” Biancardi said. “It’s going to be one of those two schools. I’m picking South Carolina. I’m going for the upset.”

Williamson — a 6-foot-6 forward from Spartanburg, S.C. — is the No. 3 overall prospect in the 247Sports composite rankings for the class of 2018 and the only remaining uncommitted player in that group with a Kentucky scholarship offer.

His finalists are UK, Clemson, Duke, Kansas, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Kevin Knox

ESPN draft insider Jonathan Givony has a new NBA mock draft up for 2018, and four Kentucky Wildcats are projected as selections.

Freshman forward Kevin Knox is the top Cat listed — going No. 10 overall to the Los Angeles Clippers. He’s followed by fellow freshmen Hamidou Diallo (No. 20), Nick Richards (No. 26) and PJ Washington (No. 37). There are 30 picks in the first round of the NBA Draft.

In that scenario, UK would return seven scholarship players next season: juniors Wenyen Gabriel, Sacha Killeya-Jones and Tai Wynyard, and sophomores Jemarl Baker, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Quade Green and Jarred Vanderbilt. Baker and Vanderbilt have yet to play this season due to injuries.

As reported earlier this week, UK assistant coach Joel Justus was in South Carolina on Tuesday to visit five-star recruit Zion Williamson, who is arguably the Wildcats’ top target in the 2018 class.

Justus won’t be the only coach seeing Williamson this week.

Clemson was also in to see the in-state target Tuesday, and coaches from Duke, Kansas and North Carolina are all expected to see Williamson on Wednesday. Though the 6-foot-6 small forward has not set a date for his college announcement, there is a chance he could sign with a school during the early period, which ends Nov. 15.

Kentucky is currently the leader on Williamson’s 247Sports Crystal Ball page.

Duke is expected to visit Williamson on Wednesday.

Williamson has narrowed his recruiting list to Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, Clemson and South Carolina, and he has taken visits to all six of those schools this fall. He could make a college decision in time for the fall signing period, which ends Nov. 15.

National recruiting analyst Andrew Slater switched his 247Sports Crystal Ball pick for Zion Williamson from Kansas to “foggy” on Monday.

Williamson — a 6-foot-6 small forward from Spartanburg, S.C. — is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 1 overall player in the 2018 class. He’s No. 2 overall in the 247Sports composite rankings.

Slater is the No. 1-ranked analyst in the 247Sports Crystal Ball standings. He changed his pick for Williamson to “foggy,” a designation that means there isn’t enough credible information on a recruitment to predict a specific team.
